This breed of dragon was thought to exist only in legend. Although their name varies between cultures, they are often referred to as “Guardians of Nature.” They are able to channel the forces of fire, ice and lightning, which allows them to wield tremendous power. Seen very rarely, it is thought that they only become active when something is threatening the territory they have chosen to guard. In order to protect their chosen home, these dragons are incredibly adaptable; they have been seen everywhere from remote mountain ranges, to ancient forests, to the darkest depths of the ocean.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Of the three Guardians of Nature who dwell in the general vicinity of the Breedery, the Singularity is the oldest and perhaps the strangest. Unlike the other two, he is often active and about rather than dreaming beneath miles of rock or water. His preferred habitat is the sky, but the blueness of his hide and the great heights at which he soars keep others from being aware of his oversight most of the time. Some whisper that he has flown to the Moons and back. On the rare occasions when he descends to the lower atmosphere, the beating of his immense wings causes great windstorms. Even at height he strongly affects the weather, as his personal magical aura alternately heats and chills the air around him. He is a distant, cool personality and not often inclined to intervene in what he sees. He would rather simply coast through the thin air at high altitude and observe. But things that pollute or disrupt his clean skies make him very angry, and may provoke a 'visit'.
