Rosebud Dragons are a fun and social breed found most often in the spring. The petal-like feathers that grow on their sides spread their sweet and floral scent. Although they have poor eyesight, they have ribbon-like extensions that extend their olfactory abilities to help create a map of the area around them. When flying, Rosebud dragons tend to hover, using their wings to fan their scent throughout the air. A widespread breed, they go to great effort to visit as many flowery fields as possible.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Rosette is the first member of the Featherling line. Very sweet and a bit shy as a hatchling, Rosette has made her way into the hearts of every dragon in the clan, except for Ronnie Sweetling, who won't even go near her for some reason. Rosette has hopes that when she and Ronnie are a bit older and more mature, he'll choose her to be his mate. Rosette tends to be a bit of a romantic, and carefully plucks the petals off of roses, thinking about Ronnie. Nurse Puffles, Ronnie and Rosette's caretaker when they were hatchlings, tells Rosette to move on and think about getting into a serious relationship, because Ronnie obviously isn't interested. Rosette has become interested in love-inducing perfumes and potions, but the Clan Mistress, Angel, forbids the use of anything that could cause artificial love, stating that "love must be coaxed out of its shell gently and with great care, not torn roughly from its home with half-researched potions and smelly perfumes!"
