Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has bright blue eyes, and is as clumsy as any other hatchling, but it never seems to get injured.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Samantha, or Sam, is a strange little hatchling. She is quite timid, fleeing from the first sign of hostility or unrest, to a small corner of the cave where she can be alone. She rarely ever speaks up around other dragons, preferring to stack small wooden blocks for as long as she can to calm herself down. While she does not have many friends, she has bonds with a few other dragons- most notably the frozen Deep Sea hatchling, Kendlefish, who occasionally surfaces by the ocean cave Sam lives in to visit her. Other than that, she is usually on her own, living off of sea grasses and the odd fish that washes up on shore after a storm.
