When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Gyarados was abandoned by his father, Davaal paa, and was left to fend for himself as a hatchling. He spent years wandering the rivers in search of food and fending off would be predators until one day he reached a body of water that was so immense that he shook with fear at its size. During this journey to the ocean, he grew fierce and hateful, as would a child that grows up on the streets, always looking out for himself at the expense of others.

One day on an ocean voyage a traveler, named ObiwanRok, spotted the magnificent beast and took pity on his situation. Taking Gyarados in as a wayward son, Obiwan taught him how to be a respectable dragon and eventually his lessons turned to the Force. But since he was a slow learner, Gyarados abandoned his jedi training and eloped with a certain beautiful lady dragon, who ended up completing his training in the Force but added in her own dark side slant to it.
