Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It loves watching the reflection of stars in the water.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

A highly energetic male, this hatchling has little of the patience that the elders of his clan do. While he does enjoy looking at reflections in the water, he likes watching ripples even more... and, of course, the best way to make ripples in the water is by jumping INTO the water! More than one meditating kinsman has had their peaceful reflection ruined by his delighted shrieks and a huge splash of water. His antics have earned him the nickname "Bluebomb," as he causes watery explosions wherever he goes. Needless to say, his relatives look forward to the day when maturity causes him to settle down.
