Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Redhorn is a young male with a whole lot of attitude. It takes plenty to keep him in his place but even he is not stupid enough to anger Firefleet, as the massive old female would have absolutely no trouble silencing him for good. He likes to show off, bringing back large kills for the females. He is quite vain and spends much of his time grooming his scales and fins. His interests have turned to OrifielFlight, an equine dragon whose hunting skills and beauty rival his own. He has been trying to grab her attention but she continues to give him the cold shoulder. This generally puts him in a foul mood. Once he discovered that a wild dragon named Darkfire was staying in the clan he began to suspect something was happening. Redhorn was furious at the idea of a rogue stealing his potential mate and challenged him. Darkfire was far too nimble and humiliatingly defeated him. Redhorn now plots his next step to get rid of the other male.
