Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

As a middle-ranking "royal" dragon of her clan, but rendered slightly higher for the fact that she is the first silver tinsel, Lady SilverFang has more power than most of the dragons, except for Plain BrightEye, Ring of Space, and any future emperors or empresses. In fact, she even has a silver tinsel handmaid, Lady SilverTail, but ironically she treats her nicely. However, she still has to find a suitable mate, one, because all the dragons fear her, besides the higher ranking dragons, and two, because her linage restricts her to mating a caveborn white only.
