Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Abandoned as a hatchling, Rat was weary of the world, not understanding why she had been tossed away. It made her distrustful of most, even the human who since claimed her. After adjusting to her new home, she sought out reason to her expulsion with hopes of putting fears to rest. Questioning many of the dragons in her cave, she found an alarming answer. The likely reason for her abandonment She simply had the wrong coloring.

She refused to be tossed away this time. She would not let it happen again. This is her home, her instincts screamed, protect it.

Her answer came in the form of berries, deep red ones. She mashed them up, forming a thick paste. Rat coated her belly plates, claws, and horns to match her kind's rare coloring. Surely now she wouldn't be cast off again.

It wasn't until her keeper came to feed her, perplexed by the dripping mush and steady cloud of gnats, that she learned she was never in danger to begin with. Well, that, and Rat learned she really enjoys foamy baths.
