Script Dragons are named for the markings along their wings and sides that look almost like calligraphy. The patterns correspond to no known language, and are slightly different on every dragon. These dragons only develop the characteristic markings when they reach maturity, and they are fairly capable with magic once the patterns appear.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Dusty Runescale always looks as though she's barely survived some personal crisis or natural disaster. She's quick to assure whoever she talks to that she just needs a little help to get back on her feet, nothing much. With a little food, or some gold, or a little something the other dragon won't even miss, she'll be as good as new. Except, of course, that a little bit of aid quickly turns into a large amount, until her victim has been tricked into giving over most of what they own.
