Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It is very brightly colored and enjoys splashing in puddles.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Wavemaker is both a talented swimmer and flyer despite her age, though she prefers to swim because she feels more secure in the water. She loves to hunt small fish, but she is terribly afraid of sharks and will stay as far away from them as possible. Her deep fear of sharks stemmed from an attack by an immature Tiger shark. The bite wasn't too grave, but ever since that time, she freezes up and shudders whenever she sees a shark's silhouette.
