Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has bright blue eyes, and is as clumsy as any other hatchling, but it never seems to get injured.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This hatchling was forced out of its egg prematurely.

This little dragon has always wanted to breathe fire to warm herself, but she never could. One day, she became engulfed in a blizzard. The ice clung to her newly formed wings, and she huffed and shivered, but could not warm herself. She found matches dropped by a little girl, and brushed them against the cobblestone pavement. A little flicker of flame came to life, and this little dragon was warmed. But the snowstorm was ruthless and its onslaught too perpetual, and the matches were only matches. The last match snuffed out of life, and this little dragon curled up against the alleyway wall and fell asleep.

During dark, cold nights, a little pale dragon can be seen gliding around Crook's End. Criminals and thieves are wary upon the approach of a small, pale spectre, whose eyes are rumored to glow with an inner fire brighter than any other.
