Green Dragons are also sometimes called “earth” dragons. They usually live deep within caves, and have power over the earth. They are capable of launching boulders at high speeds, and can cause earthquakes by slamming down onto the ground.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Kanaya is a very helpful dragon, though a lot of her advice can also be very cryptic. Still, she has the interest of her friends and her tamer at heart and will literally do anything it takes to keep them safe. The second part of her name comes from her hunting tactic, which is sinking two teeth into her prey's neck, resembling vampire bites. She also has a fondness for soaking her teeth in her victim's blood after it has submitted to death. She uses this same ferocity against marauding wild dragons or other wild animals that do not or cannot yield to reason. She seems to hold a grudge against a Spotted Greenwing named Vriska Serket the Thief, though her tamer does not know why.
