It was previously believed that purple dragons were exclusively female, but this is not the case. Recent environmental shifts have revealed the existence of both genders of this breed. Female behavior is well known; they are primarily herbivores but will eat meat during mating season. On the other hand, very little is known about the behavior and habits of male purple dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Celestia is one of the last Goldenrod dragons. Her family rivals are the Stranglethorns, one of who killed her sister. She has a rider, a female elf named Colona. Celestia wants to continue her line. Celestia flew through the air, Colona holding tight to her tendrils as they rounded cliffs until they caught sight of a familiar one- their home, christened the Violet Wing. It was a crevice in the cliffs that her and Colona chipped at until they had a specious home. They lighted on top of the cliff, and she waited for Colona to jump off her back with her elfin grace. "Not bad for your second real flight," Colona complimented. She had just recently grown big enough to ride well.

"Come on. Lets go to sleep," Colona said as the sun started to rise on the horizon of the Shadowed Sea. They slept during the day, seeing as how both despised the sun and worshiped the moon. The two, dragon and rider, slipped into their house.
