Seasonal Dragons take on the characteristics of the season during which they are born. Thus, eggs that are laid in spring match the pink flowers and green buds of spring, and those that are laid in the summer grow to depict the bright green of the forest trees and the yellow of the sun. Eggs laid in autumn display the bright colors of leaves falling from trees, and those that are laid during winter take on the appearance of the icy snow.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The name Gawain Icefire is a dragon from a scroll the owner found. This beast's owner favors him above the others. He often enjoys winter, so during the other seasons, he builds a wall of stones in front of a private cave and covers the inside with frost, but on a rare occasion, if he is too hot, he will come outside, becoming aggressive and starts attacking other dragons. So he is rarely out of his cave, but during the winter seasons Gawain is kind and gentle to all the dragons except one: Gildred flame, a Gilded Bloodscale dragon. The icy beast seems to hate young Gildred and often roars and snarls at him. So Gawain's owner is forced to keep them apart. His best friends all seems to be hatchlings. Gawain is basically the father figure of all the young dragons. The mother figure is his official mate, although he have not had any children together with her yet. His mate's name is Auria Legend Fortis. He is the only Winter dragon in the cave and always will be.
