This breed of dragon results from eggs or hatchlings that have been neglected. They are usually rebellious, not obeying their masters, sometimes even attacking them. However, their neglect as a hatchling leaves them crippled, and they are weak compared to other breeds, causing them to stay with their masters for protection.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

As a pretty moonstone was watching her egg, she noticed a putrid scent. Screeching from the awful stench and desperately searching for the source, she sniffed her egg. Overwhelmed as she was, she did not see a turpentine dragon hiding in the shadows and concluded that the source of the stench was her little moonstone egg. Devastated, and mistakenly assuming her egg had rotted, she tossed it into the river. The current swept the egg away, but the stench remained. She turned, saw the turpentine, and realized the depth of her error, but it was too late: the egg was gone. The egg was found by Lady Dodger, the first neglected of Thaleron, who seeing its frail condition, had little choice but to take it to the others to be turned into one of her kind. The newborn neglected was dubbed "Polluted River of Thaleron," a nod to her origins. Polluted River sits by the riverside from sunset to sunrise, watching the reflection of the moon in the water, waiting for her mother to find her.
