Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Cadeau, as his name implies, was quite a generous and surprising Christmas present. Not one to wait patiently for Christmas morning, Cadeau's egg somehow managed to escape the confines of its wrapping paper four days before the holiday. The little dragon spent these extra days joyously helping the other dragons of Phantom Valley hang up Christmas decorations and ambush each other during snowball fights. Among Cadeau's favorite festivities were baking—during which the then hatchling Holly almost got himself locked in the oven while eating uncooked cookie batter—and hanging up mistletoe with the valley's Valentine dragons. His gingerbread house, marked by a self-portrait near the door, is still on display at the valley's art cave.
