Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Kalewa had been named by the elder Black dragons with the blessing of the first Nebula dragon, who favored the Lewa constellation. The elder Blacks expected Kalewa to be a great ali'i (chief). With high expectations, Kalewa seeked guidance from powerful and wise Blacks, but no one wanted to take him under their wing; however, they all recommended he find the child of dragons. She will lead him to one of the greatest Black dragons, Naleohano, a retired general whom had the dragons to bring peace between humans and dragons and survived. Kalewa's determination to find Naleo proved fruitful when he found the child of dragons.

He has now seemingly abandoned any thought of becoming a great chief, he enjoys his time with Naleo and all the other dragons. He trains well under Naleo as rank 3 of the protectors of the cave.
