Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

User Description

Hatchlings in Lorraine's caves rarely receive their names before adulthood.  To identify them before then, many hatchlings temporarily carry the name of a dragon that does not yet exist.  This little hatchling carries the name of Freshman, a future bright pink male.  The tragedy of this name is that only female bright pinks have ever been found, and now even females seem to be going extinct, so Freshman may never exist.
