Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Erno's Paradiso is her father's pride and joy; one may even go as far as to say that she is his favorite child. She resides at her father's cave in the only spare room that is not occupied by scrolls, instruments, or her brother. In all truth, their family would not function properly without her. She always cleans up after her ever-studious father and keeps her mousy brother company. In addition to these things, she religiously keeps the cave decorated with fresh flora and copies of her original poems written in her exquisite calligraphy. Although she is more of a poet than a musician, she often accompanies her brother when he practices or performs; the two harmonize perfectly and always manage to attract a crowd.
