Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon... except for the tangle of dangerous-looking vines surrounding it...

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Akairo no hana was so happy when her bright red flowers first grew on her vines. She felt like she was growing up to be an adult dragon and as soon as those flowers grew in she started acting like an adult dragon. This annoys the other hatchlings and some of the adults because they say that she should act like the hatchling that the is. Some of the other adults like that she acts grown up because she helps more around the cave than a normal hatchling would. No matter what any of the other dragons say she enjoys being grown up and will continue to be who she is.

Her name means red flowers.
