Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s very festively colored.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

She was a holly dragon. That meant respect. That meant prestige. That meant that everyone would be morally obligated to worship her and sing her praises and spoil her rotten all of her perfectly immortal life.

It certainly did NOT mean some grubby filthy HUMAN could FREEZE HER for having a MESSY LINEAGE!!!

Yet that was precisely what happened, despite all her biting and thrashing and use of words that no young Christmas dragon has any business knowing. The human has since apologized greatly and numerously (with everything from "It was supposed to be a spell for good luck, I don't know what went wrong!" to "I thought eternal youth was all the rage these days!"), but she's having none of it, and has made him her personal manservant for all eternity to make amends for his idiocy. Of course as time goes on she's found she rather enjoys being forever young and adorable, but she is most certainly NOT telling him that.
