Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Dynamite is a very stubborn dorsal dragon, who has only had one egg in her past. That was when she finally grew into an adult dragon. Right after, any dragon who came near her, she attacked or went into the water, knowing they wouldn't follow. Although the water dragons always bugged her into a point where she just swam off to an isolated area, it always kept her content. Basically, she acts as an outcast, watching at night as her owner snuggles up with the frozen hatchlings and tells them all sorts of wonderful stories. Fury builds up within her, for she never wanted to be part of the family she resides in. She misses her old home, where she was happy with other dorsal dragons, and where her best water dragon friend lived. Whether lonely or afraid, she refuses any company who comes near her.
