Magma Dragons are capable of withstanding the intense temperatures of their element. They live in volcanic regions, their bodies coated in the red hot magma which clings to their scales. They must leave the lava fields in order to hunt, although they require surprisingly little food to sustain their lumbering mass.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Though she was abandoned as an egg, Sugiyama retains faint memories of her former family. From the moment she hatched, she attempted to reinforce what she could recall, worried that she would forget her parents. She began to carve the different aspects of the dragons she remembered, shaping wings and eyes from pieces of wood. As she matured, Sugiyama found that she could use the heat generated in her claws to shape chunks of obsidian from the volcanoes, carving rough figurines of dragons from the black glass. Though she is comfortable being a member of the Sylvain clan and crafting the likenesses of her siblings, she still wonders if she will ever meet anyone from her previous family, and hopes that she will recognize them.
