Avatars of Change are unpredictable, exuberant dragons whose unique connection to magic has saturated their entire bodies. It is said that possessing one of their iridescent scales can change one’s fate, and many have sought the favor of these dragons hoping to receive a scale as a gift.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Aikyono is somewhat unsettled by the sayings attributed to his breed, as sometimes he worries about his younger hatchling siblings sneaking into his living cave to pry scales off of him when he sleeps. He's since started to collect his naturally-shed scales and enlisted the help of some of his elder dragons in the clan to hide them in places that require a certain talent to reach, such as keen intellect, brute strength, or excellent aerial ability. Whenever other dragons come inquiring for a scale or hoping to win favor from him, Aikyono simply points them towards a few of his hidden scales in the area. The lesson that he emphasizes is that it takes more than just a shiny trinket to change one's fate, and being able and willing to overcome their challenges is all that one needs to take control of their life.
