Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Isolophobe is the Dusk Divide Dragon Keep's first prize dragon, and he is pathetic. He is the equivalent of that whiny, annoying, and clingy yet endearing kid without the 'endearing kid' part. It is quite pitiful to see one of the biggest dragons in the Keep tugging at the wings of his once-caretakers, asking for hugs that could squish a large number of people, and curling up into a fetal position to suck his claws in his sleep. As he is named, he is deathly afraid of being isolated. Just his luck to be born into a mostly solitary, intimidating, and fantastical species. He is tolerated mostly due to his rarity and innocence. His mate is the ribbon dancer Ofea Phoria, who is one of the most patient dragons in the Keep, able to satiate his constant need for snuggles.
