Moonstone Dragons are named after the orb on their tails, which resembles the gem of the same name. They are nocturnal and gather energy through the absorption of moonlight with their orbs. They seem to glow with a lunar light and are a very gentle breed, feeding off of plants and the moons’ power.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

In the time of the Old Featherwing Weyr, Smoothstone and his mate Gentlestone were known for their...unconventional beliefs. They claimed to be receiving visions through their orbs from the Moon Herself, portending great death and doom coming to the Weyr. In that time of peace, their 'fortunes' seemed ludicrous, paranoid.

Then came the Great War. Smoothstone, Gentlestone, and their son Moonsing had already prepared to flee and immediately fled the old lands to reside in a valley hidden within the eastern mountains. Many other Moonstones came with them, suddenly faithful in their fear. Along with his mate and his son, Smoothstone leads their new Weyr, the Weyr of the Moon, and maintains peace through rigid control and order.

Smoothstone is a charismatic leader who keeps careful watch over his Weyr; he delivers his prophecies with reverence and the fervent belief that the Moon has chosen him to rule Her selected worshippers. Any who doubt him are swiftly, coldly punished in Her light.
