Albino Dragons are so named because their translucent, scale-less skin lacks all pigment. Instead, to help protect their bodies from the sun, they are coated in an oily secretion that blocks the sun’s harmful rays. The call of an albino dragon is similar to a barn owl--a shriek instead of a roar.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

She is small and sleek for her kind, and Briar Shriek uses this to her advantage.

Cat-like, she can often be found slinking amongst the boulders on the east side of the cave's mountain—the long-forgotten remnants of a catastrophic land-slide.  Now only accessible by the dragons that live there, few creatures—certainly no humans—wander there by accident.  Briar seems to be searching for something amongst the fallen boulders; what it is, no one can say for certain.

She travels back to the weyr every once in a while, mainly to catch up on news with her siblings, catch up on lost meals, or leave an egg or two in the care of Cerulean Watcher, her mate.  Her mysterious nature isn't questioned—she's cheery and humourous enough when interacting with others, and trusted by Preto Osso, who's suspected to be aware of her true intentions on the dead land-slide.
