Albino Dragons are so named because their translucent, scale-less skin lacks all pigment. Instead, to help protect their bodies from the sun, they are coated in an oily secretion that blocks the sun’s harmful rays. The call of an albino dragon is similar to a barn owl--a shriek instead of a roar.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Pale Scale's origins lie with a group of medical scholars who had captured the Albino dragon with the intentions of using him as a test subject. For years, Pale Scale was forced to endure their experimentation, which not only resulted in him becoming permanently blind, but left him with multiple scars on his back. Pale Scale finally had enough when the scholars decided to schedule a vivisection for the Albino dragon, and he broke free, using his sense of smell to escape. When Pale Scale encountered Shield Tail and Dark Drakon's herd, they took pity on him and invited him to live on their island home.

After spending so much of his life in torment, Pale Scale fully enjoys the peaceful life he has on his new island home. He is particularly close to Agamid, and the two have bonded out of their mutual hatred of humans.
