Spitfires are a desert breed of dragon. Their dull brown bodies contrast with their brilliant turquoise markings, and they only blaze brighter when these dragons fight. Spitfires are notorious for their territorial natures, and the wing-edges of most are ripped and tattered before their first year is out. Spitfires are also noteworthy for their brilliant blue fire, which is used not for hunting or fighting, but rather for making glass caves from the sand, in which the dragons can soak up the sun.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Poor Canallysa. As an egg she was stolen from her sand dune cave by some nomads looking for a quick buck. Dragon eggs are an expensive delicacy in the nearby big city so off the nomads went with their prize. However, before they could get there, the egg hatched! Fearing what would happen as the dragon grew, the nomads dumped little Canallysa in the desert and left her to die. She was nearly dead by the time Allisis found her and brought her back to the cave. Rutsu and Camiera believed she was too far gone to be saved but a midnight visit from the mysterious Curatrix brought her back from the brink. Her mind has been damaged from this near death experience and she has sudden panic attacks every now and then. Cheto loves her dearly and takes care of her the best he can.
