Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Reise tends to keep an open mind and is often very kind, and because of this attracts many males. Though many of their attempts have been impressive and noteworthy she has yet to take one as a permanent partner. Some have speculated it's because she believes, due to her breed and heritage, she is too good for them. Others think it's because she "flies a different way". Neither have been confirmed nor denied, so it is still a heated debate between the single males inside the castle. Meanwhile, the Gold spends her time helping with the unruly hatchlings or serves as a watch-out in the east tower; pastimes which only serve to attract more males.
