As the nocturnal relative to Sunbeam Drakes, Moonglow Drakes are a secretive breed most active under the light of the moons and stars. They are wary of others, but are known to have incredible loyalty should their trust be won. Catching sight of Moonglow Drakes as they dance amid the moonlight is seen as a favorable omen by those they live near, and tamed individuals are common. They are slightly smaller than their cousins, averaging around the size of a cat.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

Spectromiod FlutterBy (after the gemstone: Spectrolite) is the 182nd Clan Mystal dragon, found by The Clan Mother early one morning before the sun shattered the darkened blanket of night. Small by comparison to even others of his kind, he is wispy and energetic, but very shy and rather withdrawn. Shortly after hatching, The Clan Mother brought a small child into the clan cave to see and meet him. Squealing with delight, the tiny human mistook him for a butterfly, although in all the excitement, mispronounced the word. With all grace and good humor, the accidental declaration stuck, and he has incorporated it into his name. Some of the other clan dragons belittled him for his small size, as well as his name, causing him to seek companionship with humans much more so than those of dragon kind. Once grown, he searched for that small human and luckily, discovered the child to be the daughter of The Clan Mother herself, and now the two rarely part company, forever he is her tiny flutter-by!
