Deep Sea Dragons, as their name suggests, spend most of their time in the darkest depths of the sea. They have a bioluminescent dorsal spine that serves to attract prey and communicate with their own kind. As with many deep sea animals, they generally eat whatever they can manage to bait. They rarely leave the ocean floor, surfacing only during breeding season. When they do choose to travel to the shallower depths, they avoid bright lights and will only come up far away from shore.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

A churning sea engulfs a small skipper bound for the open sea. Sailors on-board call out to each other with fear and uncertainty; what could be disturbing the ocean in such a violent way! The captain gives a mighty roar and gestures starboard -- the last glimpse of a blunt blue tail can be seen whipping down into the water. The men fall silent as the sea grows suddenly and disturbingly calm -- before suddenly a sea-serpent rockets from the waves, her toothed jaws a-gape! Up through the air she squirms, droplets of brine sheening from her like down-feathers. The sailors began to laugh heartily; there's nothing at all to fear. It's only little Elegant Splendans, trying (and failing!) to snatch the vessel's flag to add to her small collection. Lack of power and speed calls her to fall to the deck with a loud wet slap; she sits still for a moment, fangs bared, before sheepishly slinking her way from the deck back to the comfort of her watery home, leaving snickering sailors in her wake.
