This hatchling appears to be... dead?

Perhaps not. It seems to be active during the night.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Inconvenience is a master at slowing dragons down when they have places to be, sending them off on wild goose chases, tricking them into taking long "short cuts," and generally slowing down any dragon that has a place to be.

His unhelpful actions cause dragons to take wide berths around him to avoid being slowed down, not knowing that the long detours only serve to make Inconvenience even happier, for it means he inconveniences dragons simply by staying in the middle of an important road.

The only dragons that willingly spend time around Inconvenience are his fellow frozen vampire hatchlings.
