Nebula Dragons are nocturnal creatures. With the best eyesight to be found, they are often seen staring into space. Each dragon tends to observe a particular nebula and will eventually change their colors and patterns to match it. As the nebula changes over time, the dragon changes with it. The more intricate the design of the nebula, the better chance an individual has of attracting a mate. It is said that the markings on no two Nebula Dragons will be exactly the same.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Behold, seeker of the dragon lore, Slyankyorli of the Nebula Dragons. The intricate patterns on his body reflect the first nebula he saw on the night he hatched, and has ever since observed. His name means "star watcher" and was given to him in the tongue of the dark elves as it was through them that his egg came to the mage who raised him. Slyankyorli lives on the highest point of the mage's tower from where he glides out at night or simply watches the nebula he was destined to. When his first mating season came, he did not find a mate of his own breed and mated with the first female available. He did not stay with the female and the egg, but returned to the mage's tower to keep him company again. In his second season, things changed, though, when a female Nebula dragon arrived at the tower.
