Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Tangent just can't stick to a single topic. No matter what he does (which is very little) to stop his meandering tongue, nothing ever works. One moment he could be talking about Barriss Coffee, a hatchling that he secretly likes, and then suddenly he is deep in a conversation about fish.

Besides utterly failing to continue a conversation, Tangent is also quite a failure at pranking, which most of the hatchlings in both Territories pride themselves on. In one exceedingly unfortunate event (for Tangent) he was caught trying to paint Grievous pink. Needless to say, he stays well away from the Separator Border.
