Stone Dragons have a tough outer covering made of a stone-like material. They eat rocks, using the minerals they contain for nourishment and to keep up their stone outer shell. They rarely move, and are the heaviest of all types of dragons. Although they have wings, indicating flight ability, no one has ever seen a stone dragon flying.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Once a fair green dragon this beauty was, when, after helping her mate, the wicked Vae'khraan, wreak havoc upon a human village, was turned to stone right in the darkness of her own cave. Now, lo and behold, Aelure, the dragoness with a heart so wicked that, though she may have been turned to stone, her hatred for humans possessed her now statue-like body and gave her new life. Molten magma runs through veins where warm blood once pumped. Her eyes, once a fair shade of azure, are now a glowing crimson. Though she may have been revived, Aelure cannot speak, fly, or do much of anything but sit and wait for some unfortunate creature to wander into her cave so she can devour it. However, something deep within her yearns for another. Yearns for the dragon who once was so tender and kind to her. Yearns for her mate, Vae'khraan.
