And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.
Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.
Ginshiko is named for her parents, but given her trip from her homelands to her current home, it's unclear how many of their qualities she inherited. One thing she has a great fondness for is colors and art. She can often be found exploring for anything she can turn into a paint or a canvas for that paint, be it rocks, walls, or other dragons. This is well-tolerated among the female hatchlings who like being made prettier, but not so much among the boys, except for Hanako and Yukito.
