Feisty and energetic, Whiptail Dragons pride themselves on their speed and agility. It is not unusual to see several whiptails racing each other. Though fragile, they can easily evade attacks with their superior speed, and often use their long tails as a weapon, giving rise to their name.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Ekew hibernates through the summer and wakes up for winter to run through the snow.  She was the first to be in Xuxa's cave but Xuxa nor the other dragons never knew Ekew was hibernating in the back of the cave. Winter came and they would see her running back and forth in front of the cave and track all the snow back into the cave by the end of the night.  Like most Whiptail dragons, she was completely ignorant of the others in the cave until she ran in the snow until she was too tired to run back inside so she walked.  That's when she noticed the smell of fire, dragons, and a human.  Xuxa noticed and kindly introduced herself, Ekew introduced herself.  She felt happy and at ease with Xuxa so she decided to become one of the family.
