Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This is Nyrassia, a worried dragon. She doesn't know her parents, and most dragons say that she was a ghost dragon. This is not true, and she gets angry when they call her a "mysterious female". She has annoying nicknames like "poltergeist" and "dragon of the dead". Now that she is frozen, she can't get back at those who teased her. Her brother is Arlaira, and the two spend most of their time together kicking rocks.
