Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

This dragon was only a hatchling when he and his brother were slain, murdered by a hunter and promptly turned into stuffed mounts for a noble lord to display above his fireplace. When the corrupt lord in question was driven out many years later, a sorceress spotted the two young dragons and, taking pity on them, restored them to life. Instantly transformed into adults due to the peculiarities of the revival magic, the two hatchlings found themselves terrified and confused, locked in the wrong bodies and the wrong time. Under the sorceress's gentle care, however, they've slowly begun to recover, although they still flee at the sight of any other human but their own. Time has shown Falchid to be slightly more outgoing than his brother Falchir, the male starting to open up to other dragons and venture out into the woods on his own. He has hopes of someday reuniting with his missing mother; he can only imagine how she felt when her two sons didn't come home that day, so long ago...
