Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s very festively colored.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Orphaned from a young age, Avorean quickly latched onto the clan's other Wrapping-Wing, Christmas. The older dragon took him under his wing, treating him as a beloved younger brother. Avorean hasn't quite picked up the same knack for cooking as his adoptive brother, but he eagerly helps him gather ingredients and loves to eat the treats he makes. He doesn't interact very much with the other hatchlings, though, and Christmas worries that he needs more friends his age.
