This hatchling appears to be... dead?

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

The Dark Waffle is a frozen vampire hatchling. He usually appears to be dead, although right before dawn (when many vampire dragons prepare to 'die' during the day), he has an annoying habit of screaming "COME TO THE DARK SIDE! WE HAVE WAFFLES!" before pretending to die and staying unmoving until sunset. Although this is irritating and wakes up the hatchlings, the adults can't help chuckling, since they have no idea what a 'waffle' is and the "rooster dragon" (a nickname The Dark Waffle managed to acquire) helps prevent the adult dragons of the clan from oversleeping. His two close friends, Shigure's Antihyper Cure and Midnight Petal, are the only ones who understand what his daily morning outbursts mean and (although he refuses to do so) try to coax him to say "cookies" and not "waffles".
