Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its skin is smooth and doesn’t seem to have any color to it.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

"Tears of crimson, mixing midst the fall of rain, drop down upon the petal. One last time eyes of green meet; one last chance to acknowledge that which had been left unsaid for years. Then, darkness."

Aiedala's earliest shard of memory was little more than a dream. But one that truly played out. The story was that of Ramor and his human companion, Aiedail. All mortals must die, unlike dragons who keep going on and on. She met hers under the claws of Versace, Ramors grandson before he rejoined Elders. But on her dying breath, Ramor used his skill in magic to capture her essence. It was an unnatural  thing to do but he couldn't let her die. So he stole an egg from the nursery and had the real embryo killed, trading out its soul for hers. As punishment for his tampering, Aiedala was frozen in a state of youth.

Aiedala remembers little of her human life. Her time is split between Ramor, who zealousy protects her, and her two childhood friends, Thareon and Kale.
