Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon... except for the tangle of dangerous-looking vines surrounding it...

Now there are even more vines. Perhaps something is happening?

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Despite its small size, this dragon is nothing to mock. She emits a wonderfully sweet fragrance that attracts just about all sorts of animals to her nest, and most especially humans. The passerby leans forward to catch a last sniff of that delicate perfume--and then is promptly seized in a spasm of thorns, held down and poisoned. Only then does this dainty killer emerge to drain the life from her paralyzed victims. The many disappearances that have occurred within her range have given a haunted status to the beast's territory, and no one dares venture in to seek out the monster and put an end to its killing. But as the little dragon grows older, things are only going to get worse...
