Ochredrakes are a curious species with a wide array of mutations and interesting behaviors. Not as intelligent as normal dragons, they only breed with other drake species. While they may not be bright, ochredrakes are flamboyant and fun-loving with amazing, chirping voices to sing with, and tame readily in the presence of a gentle hand.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

User Description

Despite her demeanor, Yellowflit is actually one of the oldest dragons of the Weyr of Flame. She is light-hearted and sweet, if absent-minded, but she has also experienced most of the disasters this continent has to offer in her centuries of life. She survived a flood that swept from the plains to the coastline as the Val'Direan River swelled from its banks; her home was one of the many lost to the manastorms that came at the end of the Great War. She swears that her lungs have never recovered from the water nor the smoke.

She was there for the War, of course. She sings about it, under her breath, when she's alone or lonely. Her voice is warbling and strange, but Yellowflit sings for the daughter who was lost, driven into the wastes. She prefers to believe her daughter lives, just somewhere far away, and sings about her life there.

The songs are catchy, silly. Only the oldest dragons know what they really describe. She's been warned many times against such songs, but still, she sings.
