Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Gloire Dans Mort, Glory In Death, was partially exposed to the suns rays as a hatchling and was so badly injured that he nearly met a second death. Though his body eventually recovered, his mind did not, and Gloire was left a maddened creature with an unnerving, broken laugh and a sense of vicious glee. He also developed an enormous amount of speed, possible to compensate for his overall frailty, and this combined with his insanity made Gloire an unpredictable opponent and a ruthless hunter.

Despite his instability, however, Gloire often displays a certain vicious cunning and can at times appear nearly sane to the unwary.  His insatiable bloodlust generally gives him away, though, as he considers everything with a heartbeat to be acceptable prey and gives no regards to the consequences of this. Gloire is usually attended by a young vampiress, Shakazu, whose egg Gloire somehow managed to bite and whose devotion this maddened beast has without the slightest question.
