Balloon Dragons are so named because they are filled with a gas that makes them almost lighter than air, similar to balloons. However, they are not prone to bursting, as they are covered in tough skin and can deflate themselves if necessary. In addition, they generally are slow moving. They use their gas bladders to float to the tops of trees, where food is more abundant. They can shift their weight from their backs to their fronts, allowing them to reach leaves and fruit.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Puff is an ultimately ordinary reptile, only set apart by her species.  She enjoys lazing in the sun, with no cares, but is also not specifically carefree.  Sometimes known as the least interesting dragon in the area, she has a few friends while many avoid her.  This is, in fact, all a ruse.  She was once a secret operative for the Rentus Zur protectors, to get into a cave which had banned the guardian dragon species entirely.  She went into the cave without arousing attention, as most were used to the slow carelessness with which balloon dragons float about.  It's only whispered of in the group, but she battled and defeated a great black dragon who had been planning to devour the cave's hatchlings and enslave the adults.  Unfortunately, he had some very hungry followers, so now Puff keeps a low profile, perhaps awaiting the day when her assistance will once again be necessary.
