Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Blik Dergan, better known as Dergan or Derg, is truly a warrior, fighting all battles he can get himself into, whether those battles are physical or verbal. Dergan's scales are lined and cut with many scars, a journal of his fights. Each scar is 'dated' by color; the darker red the flesh the more recent it is and the lighter pink the flesh the older it is. His most notable scar, which can be seen from some distance away, was one of his first. The scar is as wide as one of his teeth, running from the corner of his right eye to just under his lower jaw by the end of his snout. The scar has caused his upper and lower lip to split and constantly reveal an upper and lower tooth. This scar was the result of him protecting an abandoned Whiptail egg. The dragon to give it to him is rumored to be Hook Talone, a notorious bounty hunter Hooktalon. Dergan was able to fight off Talone, making the Hooktalon flee.
