And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Child of a Line Once Great is one of Phoenix's dragons. His name stems from his long and diverse heritage, which consists of a few of the legendary dragons of the old times.

Child is a nice, cheerful hatchling (which comes as little surprise), one of the younger in the clan, with a quiet but friendly disposition. He hates to see anyone fight or be hurt, and is generally the one to break up squabbles between other hatchlings, when he can; not everyone actually listens to him. He does his best to get along with others and be friends, but he can take a hint and knows when to leave someone alone.
