Sunbeam Drakes are the diurnal counterparts to Moonglow Drakes, their eggs having been laid during the daylight hours. They are around the size of a small dog, and while docile, can be flighty and easily startled. Most can be found high in treetops enjoying the bright sunlight, tucking themselves away at the first sign of a storm or impending nightfall. Sunbeam Drakes enjoy flying in the light of the sun, and their treetop dances are beautiful, dazzling, and serene.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

Kendra was always disappointed in herself. Her parents had wanted her to be male but abandoned her as an egg. As a hatchling, she was quite quiet but reasonable and easy to raise. Some dragons suspected she did not take her abandonment well.

Once she became an adult, serious problems became apparent. Most assumed this was due to her abandonment as an egg. She began grabbing any eggs that caught her eye. She originally grabbed two Nebula eggs from the mountains, although her small size gave her some issues carrying the eggs. Once they hatched and quickly outgrew her, her odd obsession with snatching eggs became limited purely to pygmies of all breeds.

Perhaps worst of all, Kendra has a history of throwing away eggs, especially valuable ones. It has resulted in a serious rivalry between Kendra and Lilliana Grace, who is seriously afraid that Kendra will throw away Lilliana's future offspring.
